Antelope Island Sunset

Antelope Island Sunset

Christmas Day is basically the best day of the year. The day after Christmas is probably the worst. You’ve already played with your toys, watched 10 of your new movies, and eaten yourself sick from treats. So instead of moping around the house, we took a drive out to Antelope Island for the sunset. Not only was it beautiful, but saw a few critters we were not expecting to see.

A Perfect Scottsdale Autumn

A Perfect Scottsdale Autumn

We were staying at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa. Definitely one of the poshier places I’ve ever stayed. When we left Salt Lake that morning, it was snowing on the mountains. Arriving in Arizona and seeing flowers still in bloom and palm trees swaying was a little unexpected. The resort itself had a sprawling green golf course, and the air was scented with some unidentifiable plant I spent days trying to find. (I literally walked around the hotel and smelled every leaf I could and couldn’t figure it out.)

Housekeeping

So for those of you following my blog (all ten of you? Haha.) I’ve been pulling some blog posts over from my old blog, so you’ll notice many new back-logged posts from 2010 and 2011 (I have 15 posts planned for 2011 over the next couple weeks). This is because, while I hope this blog is somewhat entertaining, it’s also a journal for my husband and I.

23rd Birthday

23rd Birthday

Because I really suck at keeping my blog posts up-to-date, this is from October. Well, you get to see reminders of the beautiful fall we had! The weekend before our birthdays (mine October 9, Colton’s October 8) we took a drive up the mountains. We were watching Autumn for a few days so we brought her along with us.

Another Potter Party

Another Potter Party

We’re lucky enough to have a bunch of friends who are Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings fanatics with us. Like, let’s-get-together-and-have-marathons-at-least-twice-a-year friends. So we randomly decided to have a Harry Potter night. Megan and Caleb hosted, and we were all in charge of bringing some sort of treat related to Harry Potter.

Polka Dot Jello

Polka Dot Jello

Growing up for Thanksgiving, my mom has often made her famous rainbow jello for a Thanksgiving side dish. With seven layers, it can get a bit time-consuming (if every layer has to sit for at least 45 minutes before you add the next layer… you do the math.) This year, I decided to try something a little different with the layered jello. I wanted to do something fun, so I searched for ‘polka dot jello’ on Pinterest.
It didn’t exist.
I tried other forms of the phrase, but nothing came up. Then the thought came to me.
I CAN MAKE SOMETHING ORIGINAL ON PINTEREST!!!!
