I’m waiting for the day when someone will come up with an idea as brilliant as Harry Potter. I don’t think it will happen for quite some time. Half of my life has been spent waiting on Harry Potter books to be released at midnight and dressing up to go to midnight showings. And it has to be midnight, of course, so you will be the first to know what happens and no one will spoil it for you. Colton and I even made a trip to a theater in California while we were on vacation there, because even if there were no other friends to go with, we had to be the first to see Harry Potter! Though the theater of screaming fans was filled with just as much camaraderie as any Utah theater would have been. When the final movie came out, I was so excited and happy at the theater that I cried. And then, the movie was over. There would be no more! Until… HARRY POTTER WORLD theme park. We have yet to make it, and I’m basically going to Avada Kedavra the next person who doesn’t live, breathe, and think Harry Potter who has been there before me. (I mean, isn’t there some kind of test you have to past just to enter the park?? If you’re not a true fan, you don’t deserve to be there!) And I’m a member of Pottermore, obviously. I can’t remember my Facebook password for the life of me, but my Pottermore username always jumps to mind immediately (Mirrorcastle64). Anyways, my enthusiasm for Harry Potter could go on for hours, but I’ll cut it short for now.

Luckily I married someone who might possibly be a bigger fan of Harry Potter than me (only in the number of times he’s read the series; I’m trying to catch up. And it’s a credit to how much I love him that I’m willing to say that), and my sister and cousin are also giant fans. I threw together a very non-convincing Bellatrix Lestrange outfit in five minutes as we finished our assigned Harry Potter food, then we headed to my parents’ house.

HP Bday18We had SO. MUCH. SUGAR. We ate some pizza before we got to all the treats. But the Polyjuice Potion, Butterbeer and cake had so much sugar I was almost sick. I couldn’t stop eating though because they were so yummy. After we stuffed ourselves with sweets, we played some rounds of Harry Potter Scene It. It only included the first four movies, and it was so easy because we could all basically recite from the books. Except my dad and uncle Jeremy didn’t do as well… we had to let them join in the party only because they were a ride and hosting the party… Just kidding! 🙂

HP Bday6 HP Bday7 HP Bday19After the game, which Jordan won, we watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It was a successful Harry Potter party, and we decided to make it a tradition. We’re all going to dress up next year, and invite some more people. And maybe find a Butterbeer recipe with slightly less sugar…
