San Francisco Art Trip- Day 1

Alright, after my hiatus of blogging, I will try this again. We’ve done so many fun things this year and I want to remember them all! First off, a trip to San Francisco this past February. California holds so many memories for me. Yes, there are the family trips that I loved, when we went to Disneyland and Seaworld, but it is also the state that I have traveled to most often without my family. Two high school Music Department trips, where we smoked everyone in competitions for choir, orchestra, and band; one Disneyland trip with my best friend and her brother’s family; a trip with Colton’s family for a week-long stay at the beach; and the most recent, a college trip with my Murals class. I’d already graduated this past December but the trip was set for the end of February, so it was nice to see all my classmates again in a non-school setting.

Another Potter Party

We’re lucky enough to have a bunch of friends who are Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings fanatics with us. Like, let’s-get-together-and-have-marathons-at-least-twice-a-year friends. There were several military personnel holding guns stations outside the airport. A most foreboding welcome to a country, don’t you think?

Mexico Service Trip: Day 1 Part 2

I’m now flying over the Gulf of Mexico on a tiny plane on our way to the Tuxtla, Mexico Airport. It was so hot and humid as soon as we got to Texas. There were trees all over from my plane window. I guess I didn’t realize how far south Houston is and how close to the coast it is. I kind of expected to see cactus everywhere. We rode on this tram thing to get to our next gate. The Houston airport was HUGE! I thought that the Salt Lake Airpot was big because it was an international one, but it’s nothing compared to others I now know. We found bathrooms and a drinking fountain, which took forever. You’d think you would be able to find drinking fountains easily in an airport. Not the case. Micadyn said, “They don’t have drinking fountains because you just need to drink the air.” It was SO humid. I’m glad we’re not going to the humid part of Mexico. We’ll be up 9,000 ft.
