So we’re gonna try out this blogging thing again. 😂 I downloaded the WordPress app onto my phone, so I think that’ll help with not needing to sit down at a computer to type it all up. Although I do type much faster than text. I sort of hate touchscreen keypads, I always mess up my words and then I’m too lazy to fix the words so my siblings end up getting lots of garbled texts they need to decipher.
I’ve also found that what hinders me in blogging is feeling the need to edit photos. We have tens of thousands of photos and we’re really bad about going through them. So lately I’ve just been taking photos on my new Pixel 2 and the photos are amazing, I don’t need to edit and export the raw images, and they’re ready within minutes. So guess we’ll see how this goes!
Anyways, I guess one of the biggest news of this past year is that we got a puppy!
We adopted a little one-year-old Shih Tzu from a lady who could no longer care for him. She was really sad to give him away, but due to progressive illness she could no longer keep up with the demands of a puppy.
We hadn’t even been looking for a dog. My dad texted me on a Tuesday morning and asked if we wanted a free dog. I said, “Maybe…” Then he sent me a picture of a scruffy looking little dog, and I said, “Maybe not THAT one.” All day we texted back and forth, deciding if we even wanted to go see him, coming up with every excuse not to. It was my dad’s co-worker’s mom’s. She had just moved up from St. George and due to her illness, she was unable to keep up with him. When we got there, a tiny little dog ran up to us straight into my lap. I looked at Colton and he knew immediately I was going to take that dog home. We spent about a half hour there with my parents, the lady, and her three grown sons. When we asked when we could take him, the lady said, “You’d better take him now. I need a clean break. I just love him so much!” And she started crying, which got the rest of us crying. She reminded me of Colton’s grandma Dixie who, toward the end of her life, bought a crazy little dog that she just loved so much. We all hugged each other and the dog and I just knew he was the one for us. She then tried to lighten the mood by saying “I love him so much but he doesn’t even care about me!”
So we loaded up his stuff (it filled the entire Yaris, she really loved him!) and added a little four-footed guy to our family. And we are absolutely smitten. We already can’t imagine life without him, and it may sound crazy to feel this way about a dog, but we love him more than he’ll ever know. I love how small he is and he’s the perfect little lap dog. We got him on November 27 so it’s been less than two months, and it’s taken about this long to get into a regular schedule again.
Well I guess this is a good first post of the year. I’ve been making lots of goals and I have big plans for this year, I’ll share more later this week!
P.S. We’re one of those crazy people and have an Instagram for our dog. If you’re interested, go follow him @theadventuresof.teddy
